<p>Since I maintain (probably) <a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/" data-wpel-link="internal">the most detailed e-reader comparison tool online</a>, I know the e-reader landscape inside out. So if you&#8217;re interested in the Black Friday deals this year, but don&#8217;t want to spend hours researching &#8211; I&#8217;ve got you covered.</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s my list of e-reader deals for 2025, sorted from worth your attention to laughably bad &#8211; making sure to point out if a deal isn&#8217;t as good as it seems. </p>

<p class="has-small-font-size"><em>Note; listed prices as I&#8217;m seeing them, at the time of publishing &#8211; deals can change or end at any time.</em> <em>When you make a purchase through links on this site, we may earn an affiliate commission.</em></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">1. Kindle: best time of year to get one</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kindle-lineup-bf2025-1024x512.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-9279" srcset="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kindle-lineup-bf2025-1024x512.webp 1024w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kindle-lineup-bf2025-300x150.webp 300w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kindle-lineup-bf2025-768x384.webp 768w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kindle-lineup-bf2025.webp 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>As usual, Black Friday is the best time of year to buy a new Kindle. This year too, with deals across the entire Kindle product line, and deals showing the lowest prices I&#8217;ve seen for these devices &#8211; with some steeper discounts than I remember seeing during Prime Day.</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s the run-down of all Kindle deals on Amazon this year, as I&#8217;m seeing them right now:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/kindle-2024/" data-wpel-link="internal"><strong>Kindle Basic</strong></a> &#8211; This is the basic 6″ e-reader, with a sharp 300 PPI E ink screen, optional backlight, and Bluetooth for audiobooks.
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>List price $109.99, <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Kindle/dp/B0CNV9F72P/" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>now $79.99</a> (<strong>-27%</strong>)</li>

<li>Without lock-screen ads: list price $129.99, <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Kindle/dp/B0DDZQTYHL/" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>now $99.99</a> (<strong>-23%</strong>)</li>
</ul>
</li>

<li><strong><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/kindle-paperwhite-6/" data-wpel-link="internal">Kindle Paperwhite</a></strong> &#8211; Improves on the Basic with a larger 7″ screen, and the option to adjust the color temperature of the backlight to warm (amber) light for more comfortable nighttime reading. It also has a bigger battery, and is waterproof.
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>List price $159.99, <a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CFPJYX7P" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>now $124.99</a> (<strong>-22%</strong>)</li>

<li>Without lock-screen ads: list price $179.99, <a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DDZJS3SB" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>now $144.99</a> (<strong>-19%</strong>)</li>

<li><strong><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/kindle-colorsoft/" data-wpel-link="internal">Kindle Colorsoft</a></strong> &#8211; Basically a Kindle Paperwhite, with a color screen.

</ul>
</li>

<li><strong><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/kindle-scribe-2024/" data-wpel-link="internal">Kindle Scribe 2024</a></strong> &#8211; Large 10.2″ black &amp; white screen, comes with stylus for notetaking.
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>16 GB: list price $399, <a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CZ9VFQ2P" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>now $279.99</a> (<strong>-30%</strong>)</li>

<li>32 GB: list price $419.99, <a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CZ9TDDN6" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>now $279.99</a> (<strong>-33%</strong>)</li>

</ul>
</li>
</ul>

<p>So in short; big discounts across the board. If you&#8217;ve been wanting to buy a Kindle, now&#8217;s the time.</p>

<p>If you find the Kindle product line confusing, make sure to check out our <a href="https://comparisontabl.es/kindle-e-readers/" data-wpel-link="internal">Kindle comparison table</a>. You can compare their size using the <a href="https://comparisontabl.es/kindle-e-readers/#size-comparison" data-wpel-link="internal">interactive size comparison tool</a>.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">2. Viwoods: Android e-reader deals worth checking out</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/viwoods-lineup-bf2025-1024x512.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-9281" srcset="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/viwoods-lineup-bf2025-1024x512.webp 1024w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/viwoods-lineup-bf2025-300x150.webp 300w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/viwoods-lineup-bf2025-768x384.webp 768w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/viwoods-lineup-bf2025.webp 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Viwoods makes Android e-readers, most of them with a focus on notetaking. Being Android devices, this means you can install any (reading) app you want, which makes them an interesting choice. These are discounted across the board; even for their newest product, the popular smartphone-sized e-reader.</p>

<p>These are the deals, running from the 21st of November to December 1st:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/viwoods-aipaper/" data-wpel-link="internal">Viwoods AiPaper</a></strong> &#8211; This is a fully fledged 10.65″ E Ink Android 13 tablet, with 128 GB of storage, 4 GB of RAM, and an octa-core processor. Comes with a stylus and leather case.<br>Originally launched at $799, the price has already decreased over time to <a href="https://viwoods.com/products/viwoods-aipaper?ref=COMPARISONTABLES" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>$549 on Viwoods.com</a>. Right now, there&#8217;s an additional <strong>13%</strong> discount available on <a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DZ1TJYLN/" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>Amazon.com</a>, bringing the price down to $467.99 &#8211; <strong>$330 less</strong> than the original listing price.</li>

<li><strong><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/viwoods-aipaper-mini/" data-wpel-link="internal">Viwoods AiPaper Mini</a></strong> &#8211; This being the &#8216;Mini&#8217; version of the AiPaper, it has an 8.2″ screen, making it more portable. Additional advantage over its bigger brother is that it has a screen light. Comes with a stylus and a case.<br>Launched at $599, the price of this E ink tablet has also gone down over time, now usually <a href="https://viwoods.com/products/aipaper-mini?ref=COMPARISONTABLES" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>$429 on Viwoods.com</a>. Now available for $364 on <a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FNW9HQZK/" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>Amazon.com</a>, which is <strong>$235 less</strong> than its launch price.</li>

<li><strong><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/viwoods-aipaper-reader/" data-wpel-link="internal">Viwoods AiPaper Reader</a></strong> &#8211; This is a smartphone-sized e-reader, with a 6.13 black &amp; white E Ink screen with a screen light. It does take a SIM card, and while it reportedly <a href="https://lifehacker.com/tech/the-viwoods-aipaper-e-reader-can-make-and-take-phone-calls" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="noopener">can be used to make calls</a>, it&#8217;s not advertised to be a full smartphone.<br>Launched at $279 (<a href="https://viwoods.com/products/viwoods-aipaper-reader?ref=COMPARISONTABLES" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>Viwoods.com</a>) just earlier this month, the Black Friday deal already gives you a <strong>15%</strong> discount, bringing it to $237.99 (<a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FRSKBW4Z" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>Amazon.com</a>).</li>
</ul>

<p>Note that even though the official Viwoods site mentions &#8216;Black Friday&#8217;, actual discounts only seem to be given on Amazon.</p>

<p>Viwoods devices are definitely more niche than regular e-readers, but the additional 15% or so discount on their already reduced pricing makes these worth checking out.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">3. Obook 5: tiny e-reader, big discount</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/obook-bf2025-1024x512.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-9282" srcset="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/obook-bf2025-1024x512.webp 1024w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/obook-bf2025-300x150.webp 300w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/obook-bf2025-768x384.webp 768w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/obook-bf2025.webp 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>At 4.26 inches, the screen on the <a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/obook-5/" data-wpel-link="internal"><strong>Obook 5</strong></a> is the smallest I&#8217;ve seen available on a name brand device &#8211; even though the <a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/xteink-x4-vs-obook-5/?compareSize=true" data-wpel-link="internal">Xteink X4 has a smaller footprint</a>. However, the Obook having a screen light, a touchscreen, and the ability to play audiobooks makes it much more versatile than the <a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/xteink-x4/" data-wpel-link="internal">Xteink X4</a>.</p>

<p>So if you&#8217;re looking for an ultra-portable e-reader, and don&#8217;t mind manually transferring ePubs, the ongoing Black Friday deal makes this an interesting option. Commonly $109.99, it&#8217;s currently $76.99 <a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DT3RH9QH" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>on Amazon</a>, meaning you&#8217;re getting a <strong>30%</strong> discount. This is the lowest price I&#8217;ve seen this device go for.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">4. iFlytek AINOTE (Air) 2: $200 off?</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/iflytek-bf2025-2-1024x512.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-9290" srcset="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/iflytek-bf2025-2-1024x512.webp 1024w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/iflytek-bf2025-2-300x150.webp 300w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/iflytek-bf2025-2-768x384.webp 768w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/iflytek-bf2025-2.webp 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>This brand makes devices that aren&#8217;t just readers, but full E Ink tablets that come with a stylus. Both run Android, but the newer AINOTE 2 comes with Android 14, while the AINOTE Air 2 runs Android 11.</p>

<p>Hardware specs on both devices <a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/iflytek-ainote-2-vs-iflytek-ainote-air-2/?compareSize=true" data-wpel-link="internal">are pretty beefy</a>, making them better able to run apps that you can install to them from the Google Play store. The main difference between the devices is the size: the newer AINOTE 2 comes with a 10.65 inch screen, making it much larger than the AINOTE Air 2 with its 8.2 inch display. The Air 2 does have a color adjustable screen light, however.</p>

<p>Both are discounted for Black Friday, with the best discounts available on their own official store.</p>

<p>The <strong><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/iflytek-ainote-2/" data-wpel-link="internal">iFlytek AINOTE 2</a></strong> is quite new, and launched at the start of this month for $599. It&#8217;s currently <a href="https://store.iflytek.com/products/16072086602832957964832470?source_type=sales_plugin_af&amp;slt=sales_plugin_af&amp;referral_code=4T117IIL8I0V&amp;utm_source=CPS&amp;utm_medium=SL&amp;utm_campaign=ComparisonTables" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>available for $519</a>, already bringing it down <strong>$80</strong> from their launch price for Black Friday.</p>

<p>The older <strong><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/iflytek-ainote-2/" data-wpel-link="internal">iFlytek AINOTE Air 2</a></strong> originally launched for $549 and is now available for <a href="https://store.iflytek.com/products/16066564736071227225832470?source_type=sales_plugin_af&amp;slt=sales_plugin_af&amp;referral_code=4T117IIL8I0V&amp;utm_source=CPS&amp;utm_medium=SL&amp;utm_campaign=Guido%20Lobbrecht" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>$399 on iflytek.com</a>, meaning you&#8217;re getting a <strong>$150 discount</strong>.</p>

<p>I can&#8217;t help but notice that iFlytek must have increased their prices lately, maybe just to show a bigger discount on Black Friday&#8230;? Because for both devices, iFlytek is showing crossed out prices that are $50 higher than what I&#8217;ve recorded as their list price in our comparison table. Not sure what&#8217;s going on here.</p>

<p>Good news though; you can get an <strong>additional $10 off</strong> on either device by applying the coupon code &#8216;ComparisonTables&#8217;.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">5. Kobo &#8211; Sale? Yes. Good? No.</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kobo-bf2025-1024x512.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-9284" srcset="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kobo-bf2025-1024x512.webp 1024w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kobo-bf2025-300x150.webp 300w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kobo-bf2025-768x384.webp 768w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kobo-bf2025.webp 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Yes, Kobo does have a Black Friday sale going on, but it&#8217;s only on two of their devices, and the discounts aren&#8217;t as steep. So this is only interesting to those that have been putting off buying the specific devices that are discounted:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/kobo-elipsa-2e/" data-wpel-link="internal">Kobo Elipsa 2E</a></strong> &#8211; The Elipsa 2E is Kobo&#8217;s largest e-reader at 10.3 inches. It doubles as a note-taker, and comes with a stylus included.<br>List price of $399.99, now $349.99 on <a href="https://geni.us/kobo-elipsa-2e" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>Kobobooks.com</a> and <a href="https://buy.geni.us/Proxy.ashx?TSID=364428&amp;GR_URL=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FKobo-Glare-Free-Touchscreen-ComfortLight-Adjustable%2Fdp%2FB0C15G7J3V%2F&amp;dtb=1" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>Amazon.com</a>, a <strong>$50 discount</strong>.<br>While this is its lowest price ever, it&#8217;s been discounted to this price before. Also, it&#8217;s still $40 more than the current deal on the 32 GB version of the Kindle Scribe, probably its closest competitor. The Kindle Scribe also beats the Elipsa 2E on sharpness, with a pixel density of 300 PPI vs 227 PPI on the Elipsa 2E.</li>

<li><strong><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/kobo-libra-colour/" data-wpel-link="internal">Kobo Libra Colour</a></strong> &#8211; The Libra Colour is a 7 inch color e-reader with physical page-turn buttons, and an adjustable color front-light. You can use a stylus to take notes, but it&#8217;s not included.<br>Usually $229.99, now $199.99 on <a href="https://geni.us/kobo-libra-colour" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>Kobobooks.com</a> and <a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D1KTKVY3/" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>Amazon.com</a> &#8211; so a <strong>$30</strong> discount on their regular price &#8211; but only $20 or a measly 9% discount if you consider that the original listing price for the Libra Colour <a href="https://www.theverge.com/news/604987/kobo-price-increase" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="noopener">was $219.99</a>.</li>
</ul>

<p>No discount on the other devices in their current line-up: the <strong><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/kobo-clara-bw/" data-wpel-link="internal">Kobo Clara BW</a></strong>, <strong><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/kobo-clara-colour/" data-wpel-link="internal">Clara Color</a></strong>, or the <strong><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/kobo-sage/" data-wpel-link="internal">Kobo Sage</a></strong>.</p>

<p>There&#8217;s one other sale worth mentioning here, and that&#8217;s the sale on their store gift cards.</p>

<p>You can currently get a $50 Kobo Store card for $40 <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Kobo-Kobo_Traditional_50-eGift-Card/dp/B0FM81F4PN" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>on Amazon.com</a> right now, meaning you&#8217;ll <strong>save $10</strong> on books &#8211; eventually, if you actually use up all of the credit on the gift card, that is.</p>

<p>On <a href="https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=m/aM*H8D4rM&amp;mid=37217&amp;murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.kobo.com%2Fus%2Fen%2Fp%2Fgiftcards" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>Kobo.com</a>, the deal is slightly different; $50 gift cards are still $50, but whoever buys the gift card gets a $10 credit to their Kobo account. Deal ends December 4th.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">6. Boox: small discounts, no real Black Friday deals</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/boox-bf2025-1024x512.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-9285" srcset="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/boox-bf2025-1024x512.webp 1024w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/boox-bf2025-300x150.webp 300w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/boox-bf2025-768x384.webp 768w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/boox-bf2025.webp 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Out of the 12 current products in their line-up, Boox seems to only have deals on two of them, and the deals aren&#8217;t all that great.</p>

<p>The <strong><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/boox-note-max/" data-wpel-link="internal">Boox Note Max</a></strong> launched for $649.99, and is available with a <strong>$50 discount</strong> right now, bringing it down to <a href="https://geni.us/boox-note-max" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>$599.99</a>. If you&#8217;re in the US, and want faster shipping and no tariff surprises, it&#8217;s $30 more to ship it from their US warehouse.<br>With a 13.3 inch black and white E Ink screen, the Note Max has the largest screen you can find on an E Ink tablet right now. It runs Android 13, and has the Google Play Store available to download all of your favorite apps for reading, writing, sketching, and whatever else. To smoothly run your apps, it&#8217;s got 128 GB of storage space, 6 GB of RAM, and a 2.8 GHz octa-core processor. Stylus included.</p>

<p>The only other Boox device with an ongoing deal is the <strong><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/boox-palma-2/" data-wpel-link="internal">Boox Palma 2</a></strong>. This is a phone-sized e-reader, but it doesn&#8217;t take a SIM card, so it&#8217;s not actually a phone. Like the Note Max, it also runs Android 13, and also has 128 GB of storage space, 6 GB of RAM, and an octa-core processor.</p>

<p>The deal on it is not actually that great. This device originally launched at $279.99, but had its price increased to $299.99 later on. Right now, it&#8217;s available for $269.99 <a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DT3TN1W8/" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>on Amazon.com</a>.</p>

<p>That means that optimists taking this deal will save <strong>$30</strong>, while the pessimists will only save <strong>$10</strong>.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">7. reMarkable: only discounts their remarkably expensive accessories</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/remarkable-bf2025-1024x512.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-9286" srcset="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/remarkable-bf2025-1024x512.webp 1024w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/remarkable-bf2025-300x150.webp 300w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/remarkable-bf2025-768x384.webp 768w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/remarkable-bf2025.webp 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Alright, reMarkable definitely gets the award for the worst Black Friday deal I could find. It&#8217;s laughably bad.</p>

<p>While <a href="https://remarkable.pxf.io/raZAej" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>their entire site</a> is styled for Black Friday, none of their actual devices seem to be discounted for Black Friday. Not even the 5-year-old <a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/remarkable-2/" data-wpel-link="internal"><strong>reMarkable 2</strong></a>.</p>

<p>As a matter of fact, it seems that the price for the <a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/remarkable-paper-pro/" data-wpel-link="internal">reMarkable Paper Pro</a> bundled with their basic marker has even <strong>gone up $50</strong> from its release price of $579, to <a href="https://remarkable.pxf.io/m5eqqa" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>$629</a>. While I only noticed this today, the price increase apparently already happened <a href="https://goodereader.com/blog/electronic-readers/remarkable-paper-pro-has-a-price-increase-in-the-united-states" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="noopener">back in May</a> &#8211; apparently to offset tariffs, so I do sympathize.</p>

<p>OK, so what is discounted for Black Friday then? I&#8217;ll walk you through it.</p>

<p>The <strong><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/remarkable-paper-pro/" data-wpel-link="internal">reMarkable Paper Pro</a></strong> has a $50 Black Friday discount applied <strong>if you bundle it with a &#8216;Folio&#8217;</strong>, which is a fancy word for a case. This discount is applied for both the &#8216;Book Folio&#8217;; a folding case to protect the screen, as well as their $229 &#8216;Type Folio&#8217;, which is both a folding case and a keyboard.</p>

<p>For the &#8216;Type Folio&#8217;, an additional $79 in &#8216;Folio discount&#8217; is applied, bringing the actual price of the Type Folio to $100.</p>

<p>The &#8216;Book Folio&#8217; has always been terrible value. On their &#8216;configuration page&#8217;, the &#8216;Premium leather&#8217; Book Folio is always selected by default. Normal price? <strong>$179</strong>! Yes &#8211; that&#8217;s their price for a case only.</p>

<p>But hey &#8211; it&#8217;s Black Friday, so the $50 discount applies, as well as an additional $59 Folio bundle discount, bringing the Premium leather Folio down to a more reasonable (but still expensive) additional $70.</p>

<p>The other two &#8216;Book Folio&#8217; options are also discounted. The &#8216;Mosaic weave&#8217; Folio: usual price $139, minus $50, minus $39 extra &#8216;Folio discount&#8217; comes out to $50. The &#8216;Polymer weave&#8217;, usually $89, only has the Black Friday discount applied, so comes out to $39.</p>

<p>At this point, I feel like I should point out that you can get well-reviewed cases for the reMarkable Paper Pro starting from <strong>around $10</strong> on <a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DKMZ3SM2/" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>Amazon.com</a>.</p>

<p>Next device then, the <strong><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/remarkable-2/" data-wpel-link="internal">reMarkable 2</a></strong>. No discount on the device itself (<a href="https://remarkable.pxf.io/LXVxoL" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>$399</a>), but a <strong>$70 discount</strong> on all of their remarkably expensive Folios:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Type Folio: $199 (normal) minus $70 BF discount, minus $19 &#8216;Folio discount&#8217;, brings it to $110.</li>

<li>Premium leather Book Folio: $169 minus $70, minus $19, brings it to $80.</li>

<li>Polymer weave Book Folio: $129 minus $70, minus $9, equals $50.</li>
</ul>

<p>There&#8217;s also the $79 sleeve Folio, but there&#8217;s no Black Friday discount nor a &#8216;Folio discount&#8217; on that.</p>

<p>No Black Friday discount on Folios for the <strong><a href="https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/remarkable-paper-pro-move/" data-wpel-link="internal">reMarkable Paper Pro Move</a></strong>, their newest device that launched last September. It&#8217;s <a href="https://remarkable.pxf.io/gOKqe2" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>$449</a>, and only has their usual bundle discounts on the Folios.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">No Black Friday deals (yet): Supernote, PocketBook, Nook</h2>

<p>Something I actually appreciate: not having a Black Friday sale at all, and owning it. This seems to be the case for Supernote.</p>

<p>Supernote has already <a href="https://supernote.com/blogs/supernote-blog/why-supernote-doesnt-do-black-friday-sales" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>stated</a> in November 2022 that they won&#8217;t be doing any Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales, as they&#8217;ve noticed those sales leading to too many &#8216;irrational purchases&#8217;, meaning they&#8217;ve got to handle too many additional returns. Not having to deal with deals means they can spend more time on improving the actual product.</p>

<p>So far, there have also been no Black Friday deals announced for <a href="https://comparisontabl.es/pocketbook-e-readers/" data-wpel-link="internal">PocketBook e-readers</a>, or the <a href="https://comparisontabl.es/nook-e-readers/" data-wpel-link="internal">Barnes &amp; Noble Nook</a> e-readers. Barnes &amp; Noble does seem to have a <a href="https://www.barnesandnoble.com/b/ebooks-nook/_/N-8qa" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>sale on books though</a>.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Wrap-up</h2>

<p>That&#8217;s all for my Black Friday e-reader deal roundup for this year. Are you getting anything this Black Friday? Do you need some last-minute buying advice? Or did I miss something worth mentioning? Let me know!</p>

<p>I&#8217;ll make sure to keep an eye out for any additional deals that still might pop up, and update the article or drop a comment if I spot something noteworthy.</p>

<p>Amazon has revealed their new Kindle lineup through a <a href="https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/devices/nuevo-kindle-color-scribe-paperwhite-entrada" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>blog post in Spanish</a>. By mistake, it seems, as the blog post has since been taken down.</p>

<p>Here are of the details on the new Kindle devices I was able to gather.</p>

<p class="has-background" style="background-color:#f7ffd4"><em><strong>Update</strong>: the new Kindle models have now been officially announced, are available <a href="https://www.amazon.com/b/?node=6669702011" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>on Amazon</a>, and have been added to the <a href="https://comparisontabl.es/kindle-e-readers/" data-wpel-link="internal">Kindle comparison table</a>! Check out the comparison table to find the complete info on the new models.</em></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large small-padding-bottom"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/amazon-kindle-12th-gen-colorsoft-scribe-2-paperwhite-6-kindle-12-1024x576.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4422" srcset="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/amazon-kindle-12th-gen-colorsoft-scribe-2-paperwhite-6-kindle-12-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/amazon-kindle-12th-gen-colorsoft-scribe-2-paperwhite-6-kindle-12-300x169.jpg 300w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/amazon-kindle-12th-gen-colorsoft-scribe-2-paperwhite-6-kindle-12-768x432.jpg 768w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/amazon-kindle-12th-gen-colorsoft-scribe-2-paperwhite-6-kindle-12-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/amazon-kindle-12th-gen-colorsoft-scribe-2-paperwhite-6-kindle-12.jpg 2000w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><em>Image source: the <a href="https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/devices/nuevo-kindle-color-scribe-paperwhite-entrada" data-wpel-link="exclude" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" class="wpel-icon-left"><i class="wpel-icon dashicons-before dashicons-admin-links" aria-hidden="true"></i>aboutamazon.com</a> blog post, which has been removed.</em></figcaption></figure>

<p>There are <strong>5 new devices</strong> available in Kindle&#8217;s new 12th release generation of 2024:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Kindle Colorsoft</li>

<li>Kindle Scribe 2</li>

<li>Kindle Paperwhite 6</li>

<li>Kindle Paperwhite 6 Signature Edition</li>

<li>Kindle 12 (&#8216;Basic&#8217;)</li>
</ul>

<p>The blog post said all of the devices are available &#8216;today&#8217;. But since it was taken down, I&#8217;m not entirely sure what day that is supposed to be.</p>

<p>However, October 16th (today), has been widely rumored to be the release date of these new devices &#8211; so it&#8217;s possible the blog post just went out a few hours early.</p>

<p>The only actual release date mentioned in the blogpost is for the Kindle Colorsoft, with a shipping date of October 30th.</p>

<p>Since the product pages of the devices with the full specifications aren&#8217;t online yet, I&#8217;m not able to add the new devices to the <a href="https://comparisontabl.es/kindle-e-readers/" data-wpel-link="internal">Kindle comparison table</a> just yet.</p>

<p>However, here are all of the details I was able to gather on the new devices.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full small-padding-bottom"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="767" height="431" src="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kindle-colorsoft.png" alt="" class="wp-image-4423" srcset="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kindle-colorsoft.png 767w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kindle-colorsoft-300x169.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 767px) 100vw, 767px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><em>Image source: aboutamazon.com.</em></figcaption></figure>

<p>The most interesting device in the new lineup is the Kindle Colorsoft, with the full name apparently being the &#8220;Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition&#8221;. </p>

<p>This device will be the first Kindle ever to feature a color display. Amazon says it&#8217;s a custom display type called &#8216;Colorsoft&#8217;, but any details on the exact display technology are missing.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s mentioned that it&#8217;s got fast page turns, an auto-adjusting front light, and long battery life. It also includes enhancements like a custom-designed oxide backing layer for increased contrast and brightness, and a new light guide with nitride LEDs to improve color quality.</p>

<p>Like the other &#8216;Signature Edition&#8217; devices, it&#8217;s waterproof, and supports wireless charging. The battery is said to offers up to eight weeks of battery life, but the exact battery capacity isn&#8217;t listed.</p>

<p>The list price for this device is also mentioned: $279.99, which is a bit steep, especially considering <a href="https://comparisontabl.es/kobo-e-readers/" data-wpel-link="internal">Kobo&#8217;s Libra Colour e-reader</a> is $219.99.</p>

<p>The Kindle Colorsoft is the only device that has a later shipping date than the others; it&#8217;ll ship on October 30th.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kindle Scribe 2</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full small-padding-bottom"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="767" height="431" src="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kindle-scribe-2.png" alt="" class="wp-image-4424" srcset="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kindle-scribe-2.png 767w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kindle-scribe-2-300x169.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 767px) 100vw, 767px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><em>Image source: aboutamazon.com.</em></figcaption></figure>

<p>The updated Kindle Scribe is said to provide a more immersive writing and reading experience, with a new white around the display that has the same paper-like texture as the display itself.</p>

<p>The only details provided on the display, is that it&#8217;s got a 300 PPI pixel density, which is the same as the first Kindle Scribe. It&#8217;s likely going to be the same 10.2 inch size display as the previous generation.</p>

<p>The included Premium Pen is said to mimic the feel of a real pen, and the device integrates AI-powered features for taking and summarizing notes directly on the page. The notes adjust dynamically with changes in font size or layout, ensuring they stay integrated with the text.</p>

<p>The new Kindle Scribe 2 will cost $399.99. No more details are available on the specifications right now, but the device is shown in both a black and a green version in Amazon&#8217;s blog post, whereas the Kindle Scribe 1 was only available in black.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kindle Paperwhite 6 &amp; 6 Signature Edition)</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full small-padding-bottom"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="767" height="431" src="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kindle-paperwhite-6.png" alt="" class="wp-image-4425" srcset="https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kindle-paperwhite-6.png 767w, https://comparisontabl.es/wp-content/uploads/kindle-paperwhite-6-300x169.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 767px) 100vw, 767px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><em>Image source: aboutamazon.com.</em></figcaption></figure>

<p>The newest version of the Kindle Paperwhite is described as the fastest yet, with a 25% quicker page turn speed and an improved display featuring an oxide thin-film transistor for high contrast.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s got a 7 inch display, meaning it&#8217;s 0.2 inch larger than the display on the previous generation. Both the Paperwhite 6 and 6 Signature edition are waterproof.</p>

<p>The battery life is said to extend up to three months, without an exact capacity mentioned. As with the previous generation, only the Signature Edition can be charged wirelessly.</p>

<p>The Kindle Paperwhite will be available with 16 GB of storage, and the Signature Edition with 32 GB.</p>

<p>The last difference mentioned is that the front-light on the Paperwhite Signature Edition has the ability to auto-adjust.</p>

<p>The Paperwhite 6 will cost $159.99 at launch, while the Paperwhite 6 Signature Edition will be released at $199.99.</p>

<p>The new entry-Level Kindle isn&#8217;t much of step up from the last generation.</p>

<p>What&#8217;s new is that it&#8217;s available in a new color: Matcha green. Other than that, the front light is said to have 25% higher maximum brightness than the Kindle 11, and page turns are also supposed to be faster.</p>

<p>The display size isn&#8217;t mentioned, so I&#8217;m guessing it&#8217;s going to be 6 inches again. However, it is mentioned that the display has the same 300 PPI pixel density as the last generation.</p>

<p>It&#8217;ll feature the same 16 GB of storage space, and &#8216;weeks of battery life on a single charge&#8217;.</p>

<p>The price for the Kindle 12 is listed as $109.99.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Wrap-up</h2>

<p>That&#8217;s it; after a few earlier leaks here and there, we now finally know what the new Kindle line-up will bring.</p>

<p>We&#8217;re still waiting for the new Kindles to launch however, with no known release date as of know. If you believe the rumors, the original release date was October 1st, so the launch has been pushed back at least once.</p>

<p>While we&#8217;ve got the basic gist of the new line-up, the full specs will still have to follow. Stay tuned for the updated <a href="https://comparisontabl.es/kindle-e-readers/" data-wpel-link="internal">Kindle comparison table</a> to compare all of the new and old Kindle devices on their specifications &#8211; once available.</p>

<p>Let me know what you think of the new Kindle devices! Are you going to pick up one of the new devices, and if so, which one?</p>
